RAIN Membership
Benefits of Rain Membership
· Listing in the Members section of the RAIN website with a link to your homepage
· RAIN hopes to be become recognized as a united voice for independent rabbit rescue and education organizations as well as individual rabbit advocates. Members will be allowed to vote on which issues RAIN takes an official position on (e.g. discouraging the sale of Easter Rabbits) and how that position should be worded.
· As part of an international organization, groups and individuals have an opportunity to be part of larger, far-reaching campaigns which can attract better news coverage. For example, member groups could coordinate a date for a major Easter campaign (such as a stuffed bunny giveaway). Customizable literature for shared campaigns will be made available to all RAIN members via a Members-Only section of the website.
Requirements for Rain Membership
· Members must agree with all facets of the Rain Philosophy.
· Members must be dedicated to ensuring that the information on their websites is both current and accurate. Information on health (and other subjects where information is likely to become outdated) should clearly indicate year written or last revised.
· Members must contribute to the organization in some measurable way. Examples of how this can be done include (but are not limited to):
· Members may not be involved in any activity that is illegal or unethical or that is destructive to any other individual or group’s reputation and/or property.
Membership is available for both groups and individuals. Member groups are independently run and maintain their own rules for adoption, membership, and behavior of volunteers and representatives. Individuals who belong to a Member group may also become an individual member (with individual voting rights) if they make a significant contribution as an individual (e.g. an attorney who offers services to members may belong to a Member group and be an individual member as well).
To minimize conflicts of interest for our members, membership will not be offered to rescue groups that are already members of another “umbrella” organization (including, but not limited to, HRS). We do, however, invite participation by such groups and individuals and encourage them to link to articles on our website.
